Friday is here, and I want to close the week with the sweetest truth I know: friends can become family.
None of us chose the family we were born into, but life gives us a second chance to build one. Friendships grow roots, and one day you look around the table and realize these people are not visitors in your life anymore. They are home. They know your triggers and your testimony. They have watched you evolve and they celebrate every version of you.
Some of my family does not share my last name. They share my heart. They have covered me in prayer, told me the truth in love, and stayed loyal in seasons when loyalty was inconvenient. That is blood behaving like family, and family behaving like a gift from God.
If somebody came to mind while you read this, tell them. Not tomorrow. Today. Send a simple message: thank you for becoming my family. You would be amazed how much strength a sentence like that carries.
Choose your people with intention. Love them with consistency. And watch how the circle God gave you becomes the family you needed.
And as you head into the weekend, gather your people if you can. A meal, a call, a long overdue visit. The calendar will always be full, but the people will not always be here. Family you chose is still family you must choose again and again, and every gathering is a chance to choose them one more time.
If this spoke to you on this Friday, do three things for me. Share it with somebody who needs the reminder. Leave a comment and tell me which line hit home. And subscribe so we can keep taking this journey together. Your voice matters here. #PatrickTCooper #BeEncouraged
